explainsthefoundamentalconceptofmanufacturingengineeingfromthewayofexampleandalsoofferus

somekondsofmaterialscanbeusedinmanifacturingengineering.

20.9MACHINABILITY

Themachinabilityofamaterialusuallydefinedintermsoffourfactors:

1、Surfacefinishandintegrityofthemachinedpart;

2、Toollifeobtained;

3、Forceandpowerrequirements;

4、Chipcontrol.

Thus,goodmachinabilitygoodsurfacefinishandintegrity,longtoollife,

andlowforceAndpowerrequirements.Asforchipcontrol,longandthin(stringy)

curedchips,ifnotbrokenup,canseverelyinterferewiththecuttingoperation

bybecomingentangledinthecuttingzone.
