I.GeneralDescription
I-1.JointFundingofMultilateralResearchCooperation
TheBRICSSTIFrameworkProgrammeaimstosupportexcellentresearchonpriority
areaswhichcanbestbeaddressedbyamultinationalapproach.Theinitiativeshould
facilitatecooperationamongtheresearchersandinstitutionsintheconsortiawhichconsist
ofpartnersfromatleastthreeoftheBRICScountries.
AspartoftheinitiativethefollowingresearchfundingorganizationsfromtheBRICS
countrieshaveagreedtojointlyestablishanewcallformultilateralresearchprojects:

Climatechangehasbeenrecognisedasthesinglemostimportantthreattothefuturewell-
beingandprosperityofourplanetandallwhoinhabitit.Climatechangeimpactecosystems
andsocieties,andcontinuetointensifywithfurtherwarming.Biodiversitylosscausedby
climatechangeaffectsfoodandwatersecurityandincreasestheincidenceofdiseaseand
naturaldisasters.Thisincreaseshumanconflict,displacementandhealthimpacts,
includinglossoflife.Economiesarealsoimpacted,ascountriesstrugglewiththe
