goodmanuscriptform.Youshoulddoeverything—writingthetitle,
leavingmargins,indenting,capitalizing,anddividingwords—according
togenerallyacceptedrules.Wheneveryouwritesomething,work
carefully,writeneatlyandclearly,andtrytomakeasfewmistakesas
possible.Beforehandinginyouressayorexercise,proofreaditonceor
twice,becauseyoumayneedtomakesomefinalcorrectionsandchanges.
Ifyoualwaysworkinthisway,youaresuretomakeprogress.
I.Arrangement
Eitherlinedexercisebooksorregularofficepaper(size19×27
centimeters)maybeused.Tomakeyourhandwritingeasytoreadand
provideroomforcorrections,youhadbetterwriteoneveryotherline,
andwriteononlyonesideofthepaperifitisthin.
Leaveamarginoneachsideofthepaper—abouttwocentimetersat
thetopandacentimeterandahalfattheleft,therightandthebottom.In
anexercisebookthetopandbottommarginsarealreadythere,soyou
needonlytodrawaverticallinetomarktheleftmargin.
Youcannotmaketherightmarginverystraight,butyoumustnot
writetotheedgeofthepaper.Whenthereisnotenoughspaceleftfora
word,writeitonthenextlineifitcannotbedivided.Inotherwords,
theremustbesomeblankspaceontherightsideofthepaper.
Writethetitleinthemiddleofthefirstline.Capitalizethefirstand
lastwordsofthetitleandallotherwords(includingwordsfollowing
hyphensincompoundwords)exceptarticles,coordinatingconjunctions
(and,or,but,nor,for),prepositions,andthetoininfinitives.
