ChinaisavitalmarketformanyAmericanbusinesses.ItisalsoanimportantsourceoftalentandinnovationthathelpsAmericancompaniesboosttheirglobalcompetitiveness.Atthesametime,thepresenceofAmericancompaniesinChinastrengthenstheUS-Chinarelationshipandtheeconomiesofbothcountries,butthebenefitsgobeyondtradefiguresandsimplemeasuresofprofitandloss.Bypromotingvaluessuchastransparency,respectforworkers,andanti-corruptionthroughouttheirentiresupplychains,Americanbusinessesleadbyexample,improvingthebusinessclimateinChinawhilecreatingjobsbackhome.
Despitetheexpansioninbilateraltradeinrecentyears,mistrustbetweentheUnitedStatesandChinaremainshigh,andrelationsarestrained.Theneedforaccurateinformationhasneverbeengreater.Formorethan25years,AmChamChina’sBusinessClimateSurvey(BCS)hashelpedmeetthisneedbyprovidingaccurate,detailedinformationaboutthekeyissuesandchallengesaffectingUSbusinessinChina.
