Flyingfoxeshavedifficultygettingintotheairiftheyfallontheground,sotheyfeedonfruit
onthetreesandwillnotfollowamealifitdropstotheground.Theygettheirwaterbyflying
overriversandlakeswithouthavingtoland.
FlyingfoxesarefoundinAustralia.Livinginlargegroups,theysometimesgather(聚集)bythe
tensofthousandsinrainforestsandnearrivers.Likemostbats,theyrestbyhangingupside-down,
andsleepduringthedayandfeedatnight.Theymayhavetotravelforlongdistancesduring
certain(某些的)timesoftheyearinordertofindfood.Theywillmakethejourneybacktotheir
home,though,beforetheSuncomesup.Unlikemostbats,thisflyinganimalusesitssightbutnot
echolocation(回声定位)tolookforfood.
Theflyingfoxplaysanimportantroleinpollination(传粉)inAustralia,anditsdroppingshelp
