1ThisreportprovidestheevaluationthatQAAundertookbetween28February2024
and3July2024intoInternationalPathwayProgrammesthataredesignedtosupportthe
entryofinternationalstudentsintoUKhighereducationcourses.Wehaveconsideredboth
InternationalFoundationProgrammes(IFPs)andInternationalYearOneProgrammes
(IYOs).
2Thequestionswesoughttoanswerweresetoutinascopingdocumentagreed
betweenQAAandUniversitiesUK(UUK)thatwepublishedon28February2024.
3QAA’sapproachtoconsideringthesematterswastoengagewithhighereducation
providersacrosstheUKthatwereofferingprovisioninscopeoftheevaluation,andask
themtoparticipate.Followinganinitialinformationgatheringprocess,36providerscame
forwardtoengagewiththeevaluation.Twoprovidersstooddownduringtheprocess,and
thereforeourfindingsinthisreportrelatetoanassessmentoftheevidenceprovidedby34
providers.
4Providerssubmitteddetailsofaround700coursesthatwerereportedasrunninginthe
academicyear2023-24,withjustover15,000studentsbeingreportedasbeingregistered
onthesecourses.Intotal,QAAselected185programmesthatwedeterminedcovered20
differentsu
