WhatistheCIP

TheCustomerInvolvementProgram(CIP)isastatisticallargeformatprinter(LFP)usagetrackingsystem.It

canoptionallyalsobeusedtodetermineeligibilityforcertainusagebasedrewardprograms.

Whichdataiscollected

TheCIPcollectsyourprinter’sproductname,productnumber,serialnumber(onlyifenabled),firmware

version,quantityofinkused,quantityofmedia(paper)used,status,eventlog(alistofprintererrors),and

statisticalinformationaboutthemostrecentprints(printsize,printquality,printingtime,etc.).

Whatisthedatausedfor

Datacollectedisusedtocalculateaggregate(combined)usagestatistics,andtodefinerepresentativeuse

modelsoftheparticipatingproducts.Thisallowsustoimproveourproductsandmayenableustoprovide

youwithbetterserviceandsupport.Ifyouareparticipatinginausagebasedrewardprogram,thedata

collectedwillalsoenableustodetermineeligibilityforthatprogram.

Whohasaccesstothedata

DatacollectedisforinternalHPuseonly.HPwillmaintaintheprivacyofanydatacollected,inaccordance

withtheHPPrivacyStatementandthePersonalDataRightsNotice,whereapplicable.HPwilltake

reasonableprecautionsindealingwiththeprinterstatusandusagedatacollected.

Howdoesitwork

OncetheCIPisenabled,yourprinteror(dependingonthemodel)thePC/MacPrinterUtilityitis

connectedto,willautomaticallysendusagesnapshotstoHPviatheinternetapproximatelyonceperweek,

foraslongtheCIPremainsenabled.Thesnapshotfilesarecollectedonarepositoryserver,automatically

processedtoextracttherelevantdata,andthatdataisstoredinausagedatabaseforaggregatestatistical

analysisandHPinternalreporting.
