sensingandnavigation,canoffercommunicationandInternetservicesfor
Chinaandless－developedcountrieswithreducedlatency.Meanwhile,
theprojectcanalsobenefitemergencycommunication,sensordata
collectionandremotecontrolofunmannedequipment.
Currently,internationalmaritimesatellitesarewidelyusedin
communicationsinmountainousareasandairplanes,butthosesatellites,
36,000kilometersabovetheearth,havetimeandsignaldelayaswellas
highcostforprovidingservices.
ThesmallsatellitessentbytheHongyunProjectwillhoverinlow
orbitsonlyhundredsofkilometersto1000kilometersabovetheearth,
andthuscouldimprovetheInternetaccess.However,theloworbit
satellitesmayfacechallengesinpowersupply,astheyneedmoreenergy
toreducetheinfluenceofair－resistancecomparedtohigh
