EducationinRuralAreasBackgroundReflectingthefactthatmostofChina‘spopulationliveinthecountryside,95.2percentofallelementaryschools,87.6percentofjuniorhighschoolsand71.5percentofseniorhighschoolsareinruralareas(includingcountiesandtowns),with160millionstudentsatthecompulsory(义务旳)educationstage.

Chinaexpandscompulsoryeducationinruralareas

yearsmeasures1995—2023thelargesteducationalprojectlaunchedinthecountry.Bytheendof2023,thefirstphaseoftheprojecthadcostatotalof12.5billionyuan,involving852county-levelplaces22provincesandregionsand255millionpeople.??2023variousspecialfundsallocated(分配)fromstatefinanceforcompulsoryeducationinruralareasreached10billionyuan,anincreaseof72.4percentonthe2023figureof5.8billion.2023statefinanceallocatedanotherspecialfundof3billionyuanforconstructingboardingschools（寄宿学校）inruralareas.2023theCentralGovernmentwillprovideTV,VCD/DVDequipment,andteachingdisksto110,000ruralelementaryschool,includingtheirbranches;equip380,000elementaryschoolswithsatellite（卫星）radioandtelevisionreceivers;andequipsome40,000ruraljuniorhighschoolswithInternet-enabled（连网旳）computersandmulti-media（多媒体）classrooms.

TheChinaAgriculturalRadioandTVSchoolhasdevelopedover20yearsintotheworld‘slargestdistancelearningorganforruralareas,withnearly3,000branchschoolsandateachingandadministrativestaff（管理人员）of46,000.Usingradio,television,satellite,network,audioandvideomaterials,ithasprovidedover133millionperson-timestraininginapplicabletechnologyforworkinruralareas.
