Egyptiancalendarofthreeseasonswasbasedontheyearly
cycleoftheNile.
T:Really?IneverknewtheEgyptiansonlyhadthreeseasons.
ItsaysherethattheEgyptianyearbeganinJuly,whenthe
floodscame.
G:ItwasalsothemainroadofancientEgypt,becauseroads
couldntbebuiltonsandydesertorplacesthatflooded
eachyear.
T:Soitwaslikeariverroad?
G:Exactly.Travellingwaseasy,goingnorth,boatsjust
driftedalongwiththeflowoftheriver.And,because
prevailingwindsblewsouth,theyhelpedtravellersgoing
