oftheCOVID-19pandemic,interestinbusiness
master’sprogramshasbeenrelativelysteady,
whiletheenvironmentinwhichbusinessmaster’s
programsoperatehasshifted.In2018,GMAC’s
ProspectiveStudentsSurveyfound38percentof
candidatessaidtheypreferredabusinessmaster’s
degreecomparedto60percentwhopreferredan
MBA.Overthepastsixyears,preferenceforbusiness
master’sdegreeshaslargelyremainedstable,and
totalapplicationstobusinessmaster’sprogramsdidnot
droptothesameextentasMBAprogramsintheyears
followingthepandemic-relatedapplicationboom.
However,thelandscapeofbusinessmaster’sofferings
hasstillbeenaffectedbyglobaleventsandchanging
demographics.COVID-19significantlyimpacted
graduatemanagementeducation(GME)acrossthe
globe,withshortermaster’sprogramsbecoming
moreattractivetoprospectivestudents.Inaddition,
youngercandidatescontinuetoseekoutbusiness
master’sdegreesoverMBAprograms,whichmeans
thatbusinessschoolscanshapemoreGenZ-friendly
marketingandrecruitmenteffortstobolster
theirresults.
Toilluminatehowanevolvingenvironmenthas
impactedbusinessmaster’sprograms,thisresearch
briefexaminescharacteristicsofthecandidate
pipeline,programpreferences,andapplicationtrends
ofbusinessmaster’sprogramsacrossregionsand
