Criteriafortextselection
EachtextselectedfortheVCEEnglishandEALtextlistwill:
haveliterarymerit
beanexcellentexampleofformandgenre
sustainintensivestudy,raisinginterestingissuesandprovidingchallengingideas
reflectcurrentcommunitystandardsandexpectationsinthecontextofseniorsecondarystudyoftexts.
Thetextlistasawholewill:
besuitableforadiversestudentcohortfromarangeofbackgroundsandcontexts,includingstudentsstudyingEAL
reflecttheculturaldiversityoftheVictoriancommunity
includetextsbyAustralians,includingAboriginalandTorresStraitIslanderpeoples
includeabalanceofnewandestablishedworks*,includingaShakespeareantext(List1)
provideabalancedrangedofmentortexts(List2)
includetextsthatdisplayaffirmingperspectives
reflectengagementwithglobalperspectives.
*Establishedworksincludetextsthatarerecognisedashavingenduringartisticvalue.
