withdrewtheirchildrenfromschools.Theydidntwishtoeducatetheirchildren,manyofwhomhadto

workinthefieldswiththeirparents,eventhoughsomehadthedesiretoread.

Sadiya,thecollegegirlwithastrongsenseofsocialresponsibility,hadbeentryingtoseize

opportunitiestoopendoorsforothers.FluentinHindi,Urdu,andEnglish,sheoftenspokeatinter­

collegeeventsontherighttoeducationandenjoyedahighreputationamongcollegestudents.

daylastJuly,Sadiyasatdownwithherfamilyeldersandputforwardtheideaofsettingupalibrary.

Aftermanydiscussions,Sadiyafinallyconvincedthemandgainedaccesstoarelativesguesthouse,
