Theobjectiveofthisstudywastoinvestigatewhetheropioiduseisassociatedwithanreasedriskofhipfracturesamong
community-dwellingswithAlzheimerdisease(AD)andtoassesstheassociationintermsofdurationofuseandopioid
strength.Amongcommunity-dwellingswithADdiagnosedin2010to2011(N523,100),amatchedcohortstudycomparing
opioidusers(N54750)withopioidnonusers(N54750)wasconstructed.Matchingwasbasedonage,,andtimese
ADdiagnosisatopioidinitiation.Dataondruguseandhipfractureswereretrievedfromnationwideregisters.opioidusers
wereidentifiedwitha1-yearwashout.Coxproportionalhazardmodelscomparedtheriskofhipfracturweenopioiduseand
nonuse,andwereweightedwithinverseprobabilityoftreatment(IPT),basedonapropensityscore.Age-adjustedidencerateof
hipfractureswas3.47(95%confidenceinterval[CI]2.62-4.33)duringopioiduseand1.94(95%CI1.65-2.22)duringnonuse.Opioid
usewasassociatedwithanreasedriskofhipfracture(IPT-weightedhazardratio[HR]1.96,95%CI1.27-3.02).Theriskwas
observedduringthefirst2monthsofuse(IPT-weightedHR2.37,1.04-5.41)andattenuatedafterth
