Unit 4 Looking good, feeling good Welcome to the unit 1. What good habits do Carol and Tom have? √ √ √ √ √ Lead-in 1. How are their lifestyles different from each other? Carol Tom Eating Sleeping Relaxation He eats breakfast, drinks healthy drinks but does not have enough vegetables. She mainly eats light food but skips breakfast and drinks too much milk tea than she should. She sleeps 8.5 hours every day. He stays up and sleeps only 7 hours every day. She prefers indoor activities. He prefers outdoor activities. Discussion 2. How do you find Carol’s and Tom’s lifestyle respectively and why? Sample answer: Neither keeps a completely healthy lifestyle. Caring a lot about her appearance, Carol tries to stay in shape by skipping meals, but can’t resists the temptation of milk tea. Tom eats regularly and drinks healthily but lacks sufficient nutrients and sleep. They must change their habits because regular healthy meals, enough sleep and necessary physical exercise are extremely important to teenagers when they are growing up. Discussion 3. How can Carol and Tom improve their lifestyles? Sample answer: For Carol, she should eat breakfast every day, drink less milk tea and spend more time playing sports. Tom should go to sleep earlier and eat less junk food. Discussion 4. What is your lifestyle like? How can you improve it? sample answer: I keep regular hours and eat balanced meals, but I don’t like drinking water or doing sport. I think I should drink more water and do more exercise.
