What is Etiquette? Etiquette, one aspect of decorum, is a code that governs the expectations of social behavior, according to the conventional norm within a society, social class, or group. Usually unwritten, it may be codified in written form. Etiquette usually reflects formulas of conduct in which society or tradition has invested. 2.In what way do you think it is important?2.1 international business competition is becoming more and more fierce, the success or failure of a company’s business not only depends on its goods and price, but also depends on its attitude towards customers , its mastery of international business etiquette. In most cases, getting good understanding of customers’ cultural traditions is very important, if you do, you may get the deal; otherwise, you may lose the deal and spoil the company’s image. 2.2 In a foreign company or joint venture, if the leaders treat the workers in a polite or proper way, the workers will do their job in an active way, and show good performance. Supervisors find they have happier and more productive employees when courtesy and manners are practiced, and co-workers find greater cooperation when they employ the essence of etiquette to their everyday work life. 2.Classification of Etiquette and 2.1 Classification of Etiquette There are different kinds of etiquette, which includes introduction, handshake, greetings, exchange of name cards, appointment, visit, negotiation, dress and personal adornment, looks, speech and behavior, telephone etiquette, office etiquette, social etiquette, table manners, traveling etiquette, writing manners. Each kind of etiquette has its detailed content, take introduction for example, it includes how to introduce and how to be introduced, how to introduce others and how to introduce oneself, the introduction order.
