Unit 2 This is my sister. (1a-1c) Teaching plan by Lu Hong Teaching Aims: Knowledge aims: By the end of this lesson, students can pronouce, read and use the words of family members correctly ; they can use who questions to ask about family members and this/that is and these/those are sentence patterns to introduce family members properly. Ability aims: To practice students’ abilities of getting information by observing pictures, and get to know the relationship of family members by observing their looks and hair. To develop students’ listening and speaking abilities. To enhance students’English communication ability. Emotional aims: 1) Students will be willing to introduce family members properly in English to others in their daily life and thus they will be more interested in learning and using English . Important and difficult points: points 1) Master new words, phonetic symbols and sentence patterns. Points: 1) Remember the spelling of new words and pronunciation of phonetic symbols. 2) Use this/that /these/those sentence parterns to introduce family members properly. Teaching approaches Communicative teaching approach, Task-based teaching approach. Teaching procedures Teaching procedures Objectives Teachers task Students task Step 1 Warm up and lead in [ 5 minutes ] To arouse students’ interest. Let students know today’s topic. Greetings Let students observe a photo of a happy family. Raise three questions. What’s this? Who is this/that? Who are these/those? Greetings Observe the family photo carefully. Answer the questions. Step2 Pre-listening task [ 15 minutes ] to learn new words and phonetic symbols. guide students to observe more family photos and teach words of family members one by one by asking the question “who is this/ that and who are these/those?” Write new words on the blackboard and underline key letters to show their phonetic symbols. After teaching, play some games to check if all students can read new words correctly. Let students finish
