Unit 8. Section B 2b Stonehenge---Can anyone explain why it is there? Learning objectives: To learn some useful words and phrases. To identify linking words or phrases. To develop an interest in searching for the truth. Difficult points: 1.Master some useful words and phrases. 2.Identify linking words and phrases. 3.Use the words and phrases to retell the basic knowledge on Stonehenge. Teaching steps: Step 1. Warming-uprole-play Step 2. Reading comprehension. (Fast reading; careful reading; Questions and Answers; Make a summary) This part is used to help students understand the passage better and improve students reading abilities. Step 3. Further discovery: challenge yourself! This part is used for consolidation. Students have six choices to choose from. They can choose from picture A to Picture F, and they will get different kinds of challenges. Challenge 1:Linking words and phrases! Challenge 2:Consolidation (learn to use linking words and phrases) Challenge 3:Some useful expressions. Challenge 4: Pyramids (read a passage on Pyramids and know about Pyramids.) Challenge 5: Surprise!!!-- A Video about “Stonehenge” There is always challenge in our life. Face it bravely and confidently. Surprise is just around the corner. Be curious about the world we live. Have a real enthusiasm for the life we live. Be the winner of your own life. Challenge 6: Using as many words and phrases as you can to make a short passage. Step 4. Summary: There are so many mysteries waiting for us to explore, to discover and to find out the history and the truth. Do more research on the remains of these old buildings. And we’ll have a good knowledge of ancient times and ancient lives. Admire the wisdom of our ancestors. Step 5. Time to share: Feel the power of nature. Never cease to discover the beauty of nature.
