The various options for the basic configuration of an INTERBUS system with the aid of the software application IBS CMD SWT G4 (CMD for short) are summarized below. The step-by-step procedure for implementing a configuration in CMD is described in greater detail later in this chapter. Features of CMD CMD allows the interactive and controller-independent configuration, operator control, monitoring and diagnosis of all devices connected to an INTERBUS system. CMD runs under Microsoft Windows on standard PCs, which are connected to the V.24 or diagnostic interface on the relevant controller board via one of the serial interfaces (COM1 to COM4). Graphics-supported configuration Configuration of the system is performed on screen using a graphical representation of the bus configuration. The desired modules can be taken directly from the device database. Groups and alternatives Definition of logical groups and alternatives for finely controlled switching. Logical device numbers Logical numbering of the bus segments and devices within the bus topology on up to 16 branching levels. Logical addressing Logical addressing, i.e. the assignment of memory addresses to the input and output words of the modules used in the INTERBUS. This makes them available to the controller. Address check Automatic checking for address overlaps. Clear documentation CMD provides uniform documentation for the personnel involved in an INTERBUS system, which can be printed out either in list form or as graphics. The declarations made under CMD can optionally be included in the printout. It is thus possible to include the logical addresses assigned to the devices in the graphics.
