Emotional goals Students should care for the process of their growth. Process and method Learn some new words using pictures. Train students’ listening and speaking skills by doing some practice. Important and difficult points Key points 1.Master the new words and target language. 2.Master the use of used to. 3.Develop students’ listening and speaking skills. Difficult points Talk about what you used to be/do. Teaching procedures Step = 1 \* ROMAN I Warm up Get the students to answer the following questions: Do you like the life of Grade Nine? What is your life like now? Do you miss the days in primary school? What did you use to like when you were a child? Step = 2 \* ROMAN II Writing Work on 1a 1. Ss look at the pictures in 1a. Try to understand the activities in the pictures. 2. Let some Ss talk about the activities they used to like or dislike very much. Work on 1b: 1. Let Ss try to write some sentences. Then discuss with their partners. A:What did you use to like when you were a child? B:I used to like...... when I was a child. Step = 3 \* ROMAN III. Presentation Show some pictures about some people in the past and now.Then learn to talk about the things in the past and now. Step = 4 \* ROMAN IV Listening Work on 1c: 1. Tell Ss to read the sentences in 1c and try to understand the meaning of them. 2. Play the recording for the Ss. Ss just listen for the first time. Play the recording again and check the sentences Ss hear. 3. Check the answers: Work on 1d: 1. Let Ss read the sentences in 1d first.
