We carry out a survey among one hundred postgraduate students from Guangdong university of technology institute of automation.The main research questions include why a PhD is worth it and why don’t you choose it. 2.Investigation design and practice plan It’s quite important for us to know the reason why or why not choose a PhD.The survey population of investigation concerns the postgraduate students of Guangdong university of technology institute of automation.The types of survey are the longitudinal study and the comparison. 3.Analysis of the full data After adding up and summarizing the data we got from the questionnaires, we find a common question.The economic reason have a huge influence on their future selection.The result shows that 96% of students choose to go to work.First,getting a doctorate is intellectually rewarding. Unfortunately, it doesnt tend to be financially rewarding, at least not in the short term.Then,most importantly,the doctoral research difficulty is very enormous.If there is no a suitable mentor and project, it will make you very pain.Only 3% of students think that they will probably continue to rise.They argue that a PhD is worth getting.
