Abstract Chaoyang Bridge project is part of the Jiuzhou Corridor crossing the Ganjiang River, aiming to connect Chaoyang district and Hongjiaozhou district. As fast developing areas, these two districts play an important role in improving the living condition, transportation system, and economy development of New Nanchang. Creating an efficiency transportation system is crucial to build a Nanchang in vision of one river two sides, dual-city eight disticts with development corridors and cycles and multiple centers along mountain and river. At the same time, the construction of Chaoyang Bridge will mitigate the high traffic pressure on Nanchang Bridge, Shengmi Bridge and Bayi Bridge. This study drew the standard fitting curve by combining the investigation result of the actual occupancy rate with the information of the residential area, the construction area and the plot ratio. Comparing the predicted population to the number of the government planning population, it predicts that population of Chao Yang Zhous and Hong Jiao Zhou would increasing by 2020. By the research of this study, the population of Chao Yang Zhou increased steady over time, and the trend fits the linear curve well. It is expected that in 2020 the population of Chao Yang Zhou will reach 200,000 which shows little difference from the government planning.According to the prediction, the population of Hong Jiao Zhou will rech the top at about 42.5 thousand in 2022. The Chao Yang Zhou developmented later, and the livingquantity will be saturated in 2023 ,the population wil rech the top at about 284.2 thousand in this year. According to the survey of Nanchang resident trip distribution, including travel time, travel mode, travel frequency and travel ratio, this study calculated the traffic condition across the Chao Yang Bridge during the peak. Combined with the ownership of cars and ratio of motor vehicles, the study calculated the traffic volume of the Chao Yang Zhou Bridge every year and compared i
