* Basketball. The worlds greatest sport ever. But of course, it hasnt been around since the world began. No, somebody had to have invented it. And that somebody would be James Naismith. Dr. James Naismith was born in 1861 in Canada. He worked in a school as a gym teacher. In December of 1891, the Headmaster of the school asked Naismith to make a new sport for Christian Works（基督教活动）. The main idea of the sport was mainly to be played inside when it was too cold to go outside. The new sport also had to keep athletes in their top conditions like baseball and football. Naismith began to work. Then he invented basketball. From there, basketball caught on like a wildfire. Now, this cool game has changed a lot. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams of five active players each try to score points against one another by throwing a ball through a 10 feet high hoop (the goal) under organized rules. Basketball is one of the most popular and widely viewed sports in the world. Through time, basketball has developed to involve common techniques of shooting(投篮), passing(传球) and dribbling(运球), as well as players’ positions, and offensive and defensive structures(进攻和防守).
