Love For His Motherland拳拳赤子心 Dashans Adventure in Canada is an English-teaching program recently produced by CCTV. We interviewed one of its chief designers, Mr. Xia in our studio. 　　Xia: That will be back to year 1993, That time we had no Northern American English teaching program available But most of students and business people who will go abroad more than 85% visit Northern American. Then a second big question is the lack of understanding between the Canada and China .I have a good friend , Dashan , we organize meeting when the people start to talk about , I suddenly jumped a question , I pointed Dashan ,and asked them, Do you know where he comes from ? And then ,of course ,ok, yes .where? Dashan ,where do you come from? And then, Dashan said , Im from Toronto ,and people asked Toronto is in which state of Unite States? Then a big misunderstanding and mistake. 　　Mr. Xia was born into a family of educationalists. He once had a very satisfying job in China. At the age of 34, he went to Canada and settled down there. He knew much about China and Canada, and this made him think that cultural exchanges between the two countries were highly significant. Therefore, he began to design a program based on this understanding with people in CCTV. 　　The serials, Dashan and Friends in Canada and Dashans Adventures in Canada, in which both the Chinese and Canadian sides made great efforts were broadcast consecutively on CCTV. These programs realized Mr. Xias dream of introducing the Chinese audience to the breadth of experience and advanced technologies utilized within Canada in such areas as science and technology, environmental protection, economics, and the like. We wondered how Mr. Xia succeeded in this. 　　Xia: When I was 14 years old, I was sent to a farm, a country side, Thats back to revolution in a very poor Chinese area. .No school ,you not have school to go ,because there was no books available .All the knowledge learned during that period time was by myself .
