The ribozyme substrate is a RNA molecule, which catalyze the RNA cutting and splicing. Its function characteristics are: low cutting efficiency, easy to damage by RNase; catalytic types include RNA nucleotidyl acyl reaction, hydrolysis reaction (RNA restriction endonuclease reaction) and connection reaction (polymerase activity); also may have amino acid esterase, aminoacyl tRNA synthetase and peptidyl transferase activity, showed that ribozyme play plays an important role in Translation process and ribosome function. Currently found in the ribozyme includes: a class of intron, intron two class, RNaseP, hammerhead, hairpin, axehead ribozyme (HDV ribozyme). In recent years, confirmed, ribozyme exists widely in nature, its secondary structure has been studied clearly.Ribozyme is the catalyst that can be repeated action, compared with antisense RNA, ribozymes less medication dosage, toxicity is also smaller, and the role of the virus ribozyme targeting sequence is specific, and therefore more difficult to produce virus tolerance. Splicing ribozyme use of highly specific diseases treatment corresponding application.
