There are :comment on “seismic performancebased design ”;the review of international seismic fortification criteria for dams ; suggestion for revising the seismic fortification criteria in China . The following points of view are explained : ( 1) . There is no essential difference between the prevalent ( ) now “seismic performancebased design ”and the current seismic design practice ; 2 A single seismic fortification level of MDE for most dams would be basically reasonable ; (3) It is necessary to deepen studying on the quantification of criterion of dam collap se , and to check the important dams with MCE performance obj ective .
