Lesson 1 Language Learning It was predicted as early as the 1700s that English would one day be the global language and that has proved to be the case in the last few decades. The growth of international companies and the great advances in communications have started the trend for learning English as a foreign language. However, learning English as a foreign language is very difficult in the absence of a native language environment. Some respected theories on language acquisition believe that to attain a high level of fluency and accuracy in a foreign language, you need to be surrounded by it. Our latest English curriculum encourages teachers to create a rich language environment in the classroom. What this means is that they make sure there is an adequate amount of input in English conveyed to the students through various mediums.
