to improve students’ pronunciation of some phonetic symbols: /i:/ /i/ /e/ /?/yp/ /b/ /t/ /d/ /k/ /g/ /f/ /v/
to improve students’ reading of the words and expressions of Section 1, Chapter 1
to improve students’ speaking ability in self-introduction
Important Points
to read the phonetic symbols correctly
to learn how to introduce oneself to others
to read the sentences in dialogues fluently
Difficult Points
to grasp the pronunciation of /?, /f/ and /v/
Teaching Procedure and Contents
Step 1 Introduction (10 minutes)
Teachers introduce himself / herself first.
Ask 3-5 students to make self-introduction.
Step 2 Phonetic symbols ( 40 minutes)
Learn the pronunciation of /i:/, /i/, /e/, /?, /np/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/, /f/, /v/ by watching the video.(about 30 minutes) Then make the students practice. (10 minutes)
Step 3 Conversation reading (40 minutes)
1. Lead the reading of the words in Conversation1 2 and make the students practice by themselves.
2. Lead the reading of the Conversation1 2 and make the students practice by themselves.
Step 4 Conversation practice (10 minutes)
Ask 3-5 students to make conversations.
After-class learning materials
Content: to make their own self-introduction briefly; to read paragraph 2
Objectives: to cultivate students’ ability of expressing their own ideas
Requirement: tone, passion, facial expression, body language etc.
Form: to make a speech in front of the whole class
Time: to read the words/conversations/passages fluently in 4 days
