Choose Life Is there something you want to do because it scares you? Sometime you know will make you a better person just through attempting it, even if you fail? I say: do it. Shy boy If I could change one thing about myself when I was younger, I would make myself more adventurous. I was shy, and timid about trying new things or talking to new people. I preferred to stay at home with a book. I was very lucky that we lived in a few different countries so that I was forced to try new things—if I had my way, I would have stuck to the things I knew and missed out on lots of experiences. The trips I didn’t go on, the girls I didn’t walk up and say hello to, the jobs I didn’t apply for—I remember them all. In life, most people don’t worry too much about all the mistakes they made; they have moved on and learned from them. Mostly, instead of regretting the things we did, we regret the things we didn’t do. The friends I admire most are people who are willing to take risks and try new things. Being around them leads me to do things I wouldn’t otherwise do. They make me fight my natural laziness them makes me a better person.
