Teaching Aims:(1)Let the students have a good understanding of the text “Father Christmas”, and know much about Christmas.
(2)Let the students try to describe Christmas Day and their favorite festival.
Teaching importance: Know some knowledge about Christmas Day
Teaching difficulty: Describe Christmas Day and their favorite festival.
Teaching Aids: Multimedia、computer and projector
Teaching steps:
Step one: Greeting
Step two: Lead-in
(一) Show an English song.
Qs: Do you like this English song?
When you are listening, what do you think of? (Christmas Day)
Show some “Christmas Day ” pictures
What do you know about Christmas Day?
Introduce some knowledge about Christmas Day to students
(二) Show some pictures, talk about other festivals in China or Western countries?
Qs: Do you know what festival it is?
Do you know something about these festival?
(利用歌曲导入,呈现图片,对学生进行提问和陈述,激活学生已有的文化背景知识, 对课文教学起到很好的Warm-up作用。)
Step three: Text study
Listen to the tape , tell True or False according to the text:
a. Christmas Day is only celebrated in America.
b. People become very busy before Christmas Day, so they
don’t like this festival.
c. Father Christmas often sends the presents to children’s parents.
d. In fact, the presents were given by their parents.
e. e. Christmas Day is the day to get a lot of joy and happiness, and to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ .
f. Father Christmas is an old man with red clothes, carrying red stockings.
