The discovery of Taiwan Jade in the 1960s prompted the flourishing Taiwan gemstone industry in 1970s. In those days, Taiwan was the worlds semi- precious stone product center. However, the declining j ade production, quality uncertainty, global recession, and price cutting competition have tarnished Taiwan gemstone industry. Fortunately recent growing tourism has increased the demand for Taiwan j ewelry. Thereby, 102 CGS has promoted the cloud service platform of Taiwan rock/mineral information and gemstone since 20 13. This platform is based on the rock/mineral and gemstone information. The user and the data provider in this proj ect integrate the consumer, gemstone producer, designer, seller and the j ewelry appraiser information. The public database, cloud computing technology and value-added applications are expected to increase the confidence of gemstone consumer and the brand awareness of gemstone seller, designer and j ewelry appraisers.
