Relax, dont be nervous, use your own words, don’t quote or use others’ words. In spontaneous speech, they all make mistakes which is understandable, because perfect English is impossible. 3●A clear flow of ideas. Address 2 or 3 basic ideas, make sure the judges understand your ideas, and make your points clearly. e.g. Could pupils bring mobile phones to school? I think they could. Why? 1. Convenience 2. Entertainment 3. Useful tools 4●Enthusiasm Say the ideas that you care about, and you’ll have enthusiasm in your speech. Therefore you have points to support your ideas, and convince the judges as well. Q: How could you express your enthusiasm during your speech in a natural way? PS. Don’t be ‘’overenthusiastic’’ 52.Suggestions and tips for spontaneous speaking. (What should you do in the half minute of preparation?) ◆First of all, relax. Take a deep breath, get clear ideas. Remember you don’t have to be perfect, just be natural. Q: Teacher, what shall I do if I couldn’t be natural or I just couldn’t calm myself? 6◆Decide on a basic focus for your speech, and use 3 or 2 points to support your focus. Example: Is punishment a better incentive than reward for children?
