3.Romeo and Juliet

Questions on Romeo and Juliet Explain the plot of Romeo and Juliet. Summarize what happens in Act II, scene 2. In this scene, Romeo has employed three comparisons to express his admiration for Juliet. Find out them and illustrate. Explain the theme of this play. Drama is a performance text, a story told through the dialogues of its characters and presented in front of a live audience. The setting of the play is Verona, a city in Italy. The main characters are Romeo and Juliet, who belong to two hostile families. Romeo and Juliet belong to two hostile families, the Montagues and the Capulets. Each is devoted to each other, but union is impossible. Romeo kills a Capulet and is banished; Juliet is engaged by her parents to someone else, for whom she has no affection. Juliet consults Friar Laurence, who suggests a daring scheme to relieve her from the forced marriage and to give Romeo an opportunity to take her away. She takes a sleeping drug and appears dead for forty-two hours. She is taken to the tomb. Romeo hastens back, goes to the tomb, and kills himself just before Juliet wakes. Finally Juliet wakes, only to find Romeo dead and she also kills herself. She speaks yet she says nothing: what of that? Her eye discourses; I will answer it.
