More than just nice-sounding words, these commitments stem directly from IBMs business strategies. They influence how employees reach decisions and then act on them, how they prioritize their days and spend their valuable time. Every year employees write their Personal Business Commitments (PBCs). PBCs start with senior management and cascade throughout the company so that all employees have a common focus. Employees are evaluated annually by their immediate manager on the extent to which they achieve their personal business commitments, measured by their business results and demonstrated behaviors. Their annual assessment has an impact on employees’ base pay and bonus compensation, as well as whether they will be eligible for job growth and other career opportunities. ?
