Teaching Goals
1. Knowledge Goals: Learn something about carnival and learn how to describe a festival.
2. Learning Ability Goals:
①Train the students’ reading ability. Match the main idea with each paragraph,, answer some questions and fill in the blanks by skimming and scanning.
②Learn to record the main information while listening.
③Enable the Ss to talk about their favorite festivals.
3. Emotion Goals: Cultivate the students’ cultural sentiments.

Get the Ss to learn something about carnival.

Improve the students’ reading ability.

T: Before this class, we have known that there are many festivals in China and western countries. Can you name some Chinese and western festivals?
Ss: Yes. The Spring Festival, The Mid-Autumn Festival
T: Ok, wonderful. You are very familiar with them. Now let’s look at a list of festivals. Next please watch a piece of video. (Play a video)

Ss: Yes.
T: Ok, I also like it very much. So this class I will lead you to experience the wonderful carnival together. Now please open your books to page 32, reading and vocabularyThe Magic of the Mask.
