A Study of Pragmatic Analysis of Fuzzy Language in English News Commentaries from main Chinese and Foreign Media * * 中外新闻评论中模糊语的语用分析 Wu Fei Supervisor: Zhu Yige A Thesis Submitted to Foreign Languages College Shanghai Normal University Inpartial Fulfillment of the Requirements for The Degree of Master of Arts in Foreign Linguistics Applied Linguistics March 2013 内容 This thesis will explore into the language of English news commentaries abstracts from main English newspapers and magazines at homes and abroad. The pinpoint of the linguistic aspect of English news commentaries in this is fuzzy language. The thesis conducts a comprehensive review of the research of news commentaries and fuzziness study, and makes a presentation of fuzzy language in English news commentaries. Key words: English news commentary ,           fuzzy language ,      pragmatic analysis ,      positive functions 研究创新性 Although fuzzy language does not occupy too much space in news commentaries, they do exist in this kind of literary style which considers precision as the priority. They must have positive roles to play in specific contexts of news commentaries.
