Abstract: Single rigid and multi-segmental rigid human walking models are developed and verified
using 3066 sets of experimental data from 73 test subjects walking at different frequencies. Results
show that the multi-segmental rigid model and single rigid model are both suitable for the
reconstruction of vertical ground reaction force for normal walking frequency and the single rigid
model is recommended for its simplicity and easy for application. As for the reconstruction of lateral
ground reaction force, the multi-segmental rigid model is superior to single rigid model.
