To master the key sentences: How does the story begin? Once upon a time, there was a very old man… A man saw Yu Gong and his children when they were working on moving the mountains. As soon as the man finished talking, Yu Gong said that his family could continue to move the mountains after he died. This story reminds us that you can never know what’s possible unless you try to make it happen. So what do you think about the story of Yu Gong? I think it’s a little bit silly. It doesn’t seem very possible to move a mountain. But what could Yu Gong do instead of moving the mountains? You have different opinions about the story, and neither of you are wrong. 4. Be able to talk about and tell a story. Learning key points and difficulties Master the new words, key phrases and sentences. Master how to talk about and tell a story. Teaching aids: Tape recorder , blackboard, computer or multimedia Teaching procedures Step 1 Greetings and lead-in Great the students as usual. Show some pictures about some stories on the screen, and ask Ss “Do you like reading stories?” “Which story do you like best?” Step 2 Teaching aims Present the studying aims on the blackboard or on the screen. Let the students know what they will learn in this lesson. Step 3 Self-learning 1. Ask Ss to learn the new words and phrases on Pages 41-42 by themselves. 2.Invite 2 Ss to try reading the new words aloud. 3.
