Abstract: Benefits from New Rural Cooperative Medical Insurance can be divided into direct benefits and indirect benefits.
Taking the 6 cities of Guangdong province as the sample, the investigation mainly aims to survey the situation of health-re-
lated benefits of peasants since the implementation of New Rural Cooperative Medical Insurance 7 years ago. The results
show that the health condition of the peasants joined in the insurance has improved, and therefore the peasants gained the
direct benefits and strengthened their confidence to become rich. At the same time, it shows the discrepancy between differ-
ent areas and individuals, and the characteristic of getting stronger and stronger as time goes by. New Rural Cooperative
Medical Insurance should be optimized by the following measures: the thought of immediate medical care should b
